Darling

Today Amelie told me, with all the sincerity and belief of a child, “Mommy, Heavenly Father is my best friend.”

My darling.

My darling.

Yes, my sweet baby, He surely is. I am so glad you know that truth and I will try my best to make sure you never forget.

Thankful

This post is late in coming, but I think I have a good excuse. We spent our Thanksgiving weekend with an unwelcome guest–the stomach bug. We each took our turn with our visitor, but we’re finally all feeling better again. It definitely made for a memorable Thanksgiving! We are thankful that the Haymonds let us stay with them, sickness and all, and for our current health.

One of our traditions is the Thankful Chain that we make during the month of November. I think I called it the Gratitude Chain last year, but the idea is the same. Each day, we each choose something we are thankful for and write it on a slip of paper. Those slips are added to the chain and by the end of the month, we have a long chain that reminds us of all we have been blessed with. It was especially fun this year because Amelie really got into it. She would remind us each evening when it was “time to do the Thankful Chain” and she really considered what she wanted to be thankful for each night.

This year's chain made mention of our family, our friends, physical comforts, spritual comforts, and all that we are grateful for.

Some things that made it on to my slips of paper:

A sweet little girl who does this when I tell her I'd like to take a picture of her in her new dress.

And then does this when I ask her to please put her arms down.

A crazy little monkey who, although he can drive me a little nuts with his energy and climbing tendencies, is still my little angel baby. I wouldn't have him any other way.

A wonderful husband whom I love just as much as the day we took this picture on the sands of a Tahitian beach over 4 years ago.

My life is bursting with joyful blessings and I will be forever grateful for them all.
