Yellowstone and Austin Reunion

At the end of July, we took a mini road trip up to the Yellowstone area to meet up with some of the Austin clan. We decided to leave at 3 am Tuesday morning to leave us some time to explore Yellowstone before meeting everyone at our cabin later that afternoon. A little over six hours of driving later, we were there. And it was beautiful! We didn’t have time to get over to the parts of Yellowstone where you see all the great wildlife, but we did get to see some very cool geysers.

Yellowstone is just amazing. So surreal and funky and cool.

"Surreal, Mom? Really?"

“Surreal, Mom? Really?”

Well, I think it's a good word for it.

The kids had a great time. Lots of walking, but the scenery was fantastic.

Old Faithful, of course.

And almost as amazing as the geyser itself, the crowd waiting to see the geyser.

A little better. Liam was there, too. Just didn't make it into the picture.

The kids and I were excited to see this at one of the parks we visited with the Austins. We're reading "The Trumpet of the Swan" by E. B. White, so this was perfect!

Colin and Jill treated us to a fantastic horseback tour. Colin was nice enough to tend all the little ones so we could go. Thank you!

Some of the scenery from our ride. My legs were sore afterward, but it was so worth it.

It was kind of a whirlwind tour (we drove home Thursday night), but it was wonderful to see some Austins (Sarah and her crew, Colin and Jill and their kiddos) and visit Yellowstone. We can’t wait to return to Yellowstone and spend some more time there!
