New House Week 13

Are you guys sick of these posts yet? Well, too bad. We just found out that there’s been a delay in the construction process, so we won’t be closing until right before Christmas, so you’ve got about a month of these posts left. Apparently, Ivory works with the largest supplier of cabinetry in the country. That’s great, except that, also apparently, the second largest supplier went under and the company that Ivory works with has absorbed a lot of the other company’s contracts. So, there have been lots of delays in cabinetry for lots of Ivory homes. What’s frustrating is that the cabinetry company isn’t handling things very well. Our cabinetry should have started going in on Friday, but instead of letting our superintendent know that it wouldn’t be happening, the cabinetry guys just didn’t show up. He had to call them to get the scoop and then they told him that they wouldn’t be able to do the install until the 26th, 11 days past the originally scheduled date. So, that’s the long story and the reason why we will now be spending our Christmas holiday moving. Can’t complain though. A new house is a pretty great Christmas present!

On to the pictures…

It was pretty disappointing to hear that we’d have to wait longer before moving in, but I am just so excited for this house. It should be a fun Christmas holiday!

Oh, and Bryce met our next door neighbor when he was out at the house. From what Bryce tells me, it sounds like they will be nice neighbors. Empty nesters with lots of grand kids. Sounded very friendly.

New House Week 12–a couple more

Bryce went by the house again and a lot had happened, so I just wanted to post a couple more pictures from this week.

This gives you an idea what our trim will be like around the doors.

week 12.23

I’m so excited for nice closets! Currently, the kids’ closets are tiny. These will be much more useful.

week 12.24

More storage! I’ve never had a linen closet–or any kind of closet with shelves like this.

week 12.26

The French doors into the office are in and they look beautiful.

New House Week 12

Okay, I think we’re on week 12 of our new house construction. This was the week of tiling. We’re set to close in 5 weeks–it’s getting closer! Here’s some pictures from yesterday.

Halloween 2013

We had a fun, low-key Halloween. The kids loved the ward Trunk-or-Treat. Next year in our new neighborhood, they will get to go house to house for the first time! Here’s this year’s line up of costumes.
